MY EXPERIENCE

Hi! I’m Julie, a farmer and saleswoman, and grand champion of the Kentucky state fair. I was diagnosed with relapsing MS in 2021 and KESIMPTA is my first RMS treatment. I love spending time with the pigs I raise on the farm, whenever I’m not tending to the animals I enjoy reading and listening to music.

My Diagnosis


Over Memorial Day weekend of 2021 I started to feel both my feet go numb while I was feeding the animals in the farm. At first, I thought it could’ve been my blood sugar levels but after seeing they were within normal ranges, I was more concerned. I went to the doctor and after about a week of tests, scans, and MRIs I was officially diagnosed with relapsing MS. I was shocked and my mom was very upset, but I told her ‘Hey mom, it’s okay. We are still here and doing okay!’

Finding KESIMPTA


After my diagnosis I had no idea what the next step was, I turned to my doctor and asked him what was next. He talked to me about different types of treatment, I told him I wanted it to be effective, but also something that would fit well in my very busy life. He suggested I could be a great candidate for KESIMPTA, I trusted his recommendation. It appealed to me since the once-monthly* schedule reminded me of the medication I give some of the animals on the farm.

Treating RMS On My Time


One thing about me is that I love being on-the-go from dawn to dusk. Between my full-time sales job and tending to the animals I live a very busy life, so treating my relapsing MS once a month is perfect for me. I don’t have to go anywhere to take KESIMPTA and it’s mailed directly to me, it just works for my lifestyle.

The support I’ve gotten month after month from the Alongside™ KESIMPTA program has left me speechless. My Coordinator, Lisa, is the best. She guided me every step of the way when I was getting started on KESIMPTA, by the end of it I was like, "that was no big deal!"

A Bright Future Ahead


During my MS journey I’ve had frustrating moments because I can’t do everything I want and other moments where I feel like I can conquer the world. The biggest challenge is learning to manage the ups and downs. I have two choices every day; I wake up and I can feel sorry for myself, or I can wake up and be like ‘I have relapsing MS but that’s not stopping me.’ I’m very excited for what the future holds, who knows, maybe I’ll be a state fair champion again!
